It's probably important to note that in the boarding school example six of those twelve staff were trained counselors whose primary function, from a student's perspective, was conflict mediation. In a family environment having a trained mediator, a matriarch/patriarch, or a committee to settle disputes would be necessary and its role in dealing with said disputes should be agreed upon before anyone moves in.
